Organisation

The National Audit Office is directed by the Auditor General, who is elected by Parliament for a term of six years. The Auditor General is Dr Tuomas Pöysti.

The National Audit Office comprises the Financial Audit, Performance Audit and Executive Management Support units, which are responsible for audit, supervision and reporting to Parliament. It also includes the Administration and Information units.

The office has around 150 employees. Its headquarters are in Helsinki, with branches in Turku and Oulu.

The National Audit Office is an independent body affiliated with Parliament that is Finland's Supreme Audit Institution. The status, tasks and activities of the National Audit Office are prescribed in section 90 of the Constitution of Finland and in certain other acts.
