Oversight of election campaign funding

NAOF checks that all candidates who have been elected or confirmed as alternates file the election-specific disclosures required under the Act on a Candidate’s Election Funding. These are the voluntary advance disclosure on the candidate’s election funding, the candidate’s election funding disclosure and the report on outstanding loans and support for loan repayments (filed after the election). NAOF publishes the disclosures online in real time.

The disclosure obligation laid down in the Act on a Candidate’s Election Funding applies to candidates elected or appointed as alternate members. In presidential elections, the disclosure obligation applies to the political parties nominating a candidate and polling representatives of constituency associations nominating a candidate, or the representative’s alternate.

The National Audit Office submits a report to Parliament on its activities as the authority overseeing election campaign funding within eight months of the confirmation of the election results.
