Upcoming publication: Steering and monitoring of patient and customer safety

The aim of the audit is to examine how the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has steered and promoted the self-monitoring of social and health services as well as the patient and customer safety in the last ten years. At the same time, the aim is to create an overall picture of the state of monitoring of patient and customer safety and information management. Patient and customer safety are a key socio-political objective whose promotion improves the quality and effectiveness of social and health care services. The quality of the services is also essentially impacted by their control. In the past few years, social and health care have to an increasing extent shifted to units’ self-directed quality management and self-monitoring.

The audit is expected to provide useful information to Parliament and to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and its subordinate administration. The audit has also significance for the service providers and producers as well as citizens.
